High School Counselors meet with 8th Graders (in their Science Classes) - to go over the High School classes, requirements and registration.  - February 12 & 13, 2019 - it's important that students do not miss these days!

High School Counselors meet with 8th GradersStudents will meet 1:1 with a HS counselors to quickly review their 4 year plan, and then set up their classes for Freshman year - February 25, 2019

Promotion Speech Writing Contest - Thursday, May 16 - 2:50pm to 3:50pm
The Speech Writing Contest will be held in the library computer lab at 2:50pm on May 16.  Students will have 45 minutes to write a rough draft of a speech. The top two rough drafts will be selected. The 8th grade English teachers will then work with those two students on revising and finalizing their speeches to present at Promotion ceremony.

PROMOTION REQUIREMENTS - Revised December 2018

 

Below are the requirements for participating in promotion activities for the 2018-19 school year. These expectations are effective as of quarter 2 of the 2018-19 school year (quarter 1 will not be factored into the below criteria). Students in danger of not promoting or students who have not met the below requirements will receive reminders at the beginning of quarter 3 and quarter 4. Students who do not meet the criteria must fill out an appeal request form and turn in by the announced date during the 4th quarter (appeals will be considered if there are extraordinary or extenuating circumstances).

 

  1. A student may not participate in promotion activities if he or she has more than four (4) "F" marks in the 8th grade during quarter marking periods, with no more than one (1) earned in the 4th quarter.
  2. A student may not participate in promotion activities if he or she has more than four (4) Unsatisfactory (U) ratings for Citizenship during quarter marking periods, with no more than one (1) earned in the 4th quarter.
  3. A student may not have more than one (1) suspension, either in-house or at home, as assigned by an administrator, with none in the 4th quarter; and no recorded behavior or attendance probation during Quarter 3 or 4.

Hey there 8th graders! Can you believe that only a few short months stand between us and high school? Time flies! So let’s make these last few months at SPMS count!
 
The 8th graders have a long tradition here at SPMS to make the panoramic picture extra special by dressing fancy for the photo.  All students need to dress in accordance with the school dress code. 
 
 
 
8th grade boys:
Please wear a collared shirt with a tie and slacks, khakis, or dress pants.
No T-shirts or jeans.
 
8th grade girls:
Please wear a nice blouse or collared shirt with khakis, dress pants, or a skirt.
Dresses are another option.
No T-shirts or jeans.
 

So guys grab a tie and show some swagger. Girls, a pretty outfit is sure to make a statement.  8th graders, let’s all dress to impress and show the school that the class of 2019 has got real style!
