Our Mission

Our purpose is to inspire, challenge and empower all students to acquire the knowledge, skills and values to become a successful, responsible and caring citizen in a diverse society.



Please take a look at our daily bulletin (to the right) to see the altered daily schedule during CAASPP testing.  It is very important that students stay on campus during their testing time.  Please try not to schedule appointments where students will be away from their testing classroom time.  Thank you.


Pennies for Patients - Deadline 4/27/16 - Take your decorated boxes to Room 216 for the box decorating competition.


2016-2017 Binder Reminder / Agenda Cover Artwork - Deadline 4/31/16 - Your design should be on 8 1/2 x 11 paper, in full color and contain the information on the POSTERS you see around campus. Come to Mrs. Tanaka's room in 102 for more information and to turn in your drawing. 


8th Grade DC Trip Photo Contest - Deadline April 29 - To students who went to the Washington DC trip:  Photo contest has been extended to next Friday, April 29th.  Please follow the contest guidelines and submit your photo to either Ms. Chen or Mrs. Horridge.


All tickets can be purchased at the door.  Paypal and payments into the office are now closed.  Thank you!

  Please mark your calendars for next and final Staff Appreciation Lunch on THURSDAY, May 5th @ 11:30 AM and help us provide a delicious meal to our hard working staff for one last time this school year. We would like to create a big taco bar for the staff to enjoy.

Please sign-up now and show our teachers and staff how much we appreciate them. 

Food/drinks can be dropped off in the SPMS office by11 AM on May 5th.

If you are donating a monetary contribution, please drop off or send to the SPMS office. Please also let one of us know that you have turned in your contribution so we can look for it.

Please be sure to label any containers or utensils you would like returned.

Read It Forward author Holly Goldberg Sloan will be visiting SPMS all day on Wednesday, May 4.  We hope your student has read her book Counting by 7s by now, and here are some other ways your student can participate:

  • Bring $8 cash to the library by Monday, May 2 to prepurchase a personal copy of Counting by 7s that the author will autograph.
  • Sign up here (or on the library homepage) to take a writing workshop with the author in the library during 6th period that day (first come first served until the class is filled).
  • Enter the library raffle to have lunch with Holly.   This will be a small group -- fun to hang out with a celebrity!
  • Watch for the new art project in the library next week to add to the beautiful Counting by 7s display in the library lobby.
  • If your student has a copy of Counting by 7s that they've already read, please ask them to Read It Forward!

YEARBOOK SALES - June 3 - Cash Only

For families who forgot to purchase a 2016 Yearbook, by the March 18 deadline, please note there will be approximately 100 yearbooks for sale, after school on June 3 in Room 107 - $65 CASH ONLY - first come, first served.   A line will form outside of the Oak Street entrance to the school, a sign will be posted.

Hurry up and buy your 8th Grade t-shirt and sweatshirt because supplies are running out! Come to room 113 with cash or a check during homeroom! T- shirts are $15 and sweatshirts are $25, First Come, First Served!
