Congratulations to the SPMS Math Team that recently won several awards at the Alhambra Mark Keppel Math Field Day. Following are the results of the competition:

For the Gallery Walk event, students were given 45 minutes, art supplies, a rubric to integrate art and the math topic of linear functions. No words of explanation were allowed; the art was required to reveal the mathematics. Team member, Sarah Kano, earned first place for her entry (shown above).
The team has been earning accolades throughout the school year in several different contests and is comprised of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Kudos to all the student participants and their advisors—Eric Aispuro, Katy Chen, Dean McCoy, and Douglas Buhler.
