Carlos Kassam-Clay to Join SPMS as New Assistant Principal

SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. (June 12, 2018)South Pasadena Unified School District has hired Carlos Kassam-Clay to serve as the assistant principal of South Pasadena Middle School.

Kassam-Clay previously served as assistant principal at Alliance Marine-Innovation and Technology (MIT) High School in Sun Valley, Calif. In addition, he served as the dean of students for two years at the American School Foundation High School in Mexico City.  He has a strong background in the effective use of technology in the classroom and the implementation of a rigorous International Baccalaureate program.  In both of his administrative positions, Kassam-Clay handled student discipline, attendance, and intervention programs, including developing a social-emotional wellness program.

Kassam-Clay has taught History, Economics, and Civics at both the high school and middle school levels. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis in both psychology and sociology, a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and an administrative certification from John Hopkin’s University.  He looks forward to joining South Pasadena Unified beginning July 1, 2018.
